PCA 2023: La Gloria Cubana

The La Gloria Cubana brand was back at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show for the first time since 2019. At that time, La Gloria Cubana was focused on innovation. Over the past few years, La Gloria Cubana has shifted some of its attention to returning somewhat to its roots in terms of its packaging and its associated cigars. This year, as a part of Forged Cigar Company, La Gloria Cubana brought three new releases into PCA - including a regular production cigar, a limited edition cigar, and a sampler.

PCA 2023: Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. (Audio)

The third Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show for Jake Wyatt Cigar Company was this year. This year would be one of the biggest for Jake Wyatt as the company unveiled a new line, made some significant packaging changes, and created some new merchandising options. All of the things being shown off by Jake Wyatt were quite impressive, but to me, the one thing that really stands out about Jake Wyatt is the focus the company has on educating both its consumers and its retailers. This was evident throughout the presentation at the Jake Wyatt booth in 2023.

The third Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show for Jake Wyatt Cigar Company was this year. PCA 2023: Casa 1910 Cigars (Audio)

Casa 1910 Cigars is a cigar and lifestyle brand based out of Mexico. The company was founded by Manolo Santiago, Jamie Baer, and Serge Bolling. The brand captures the history and pride surrounding the Mexican Revolution, which occurred in 1910. In 2021, the company came to the Premium Cigar Association (PCA)Trade Show with its first cigar, Casa 1910 Cuchillo Parado. Since then, the company has expanded to eight cigar offerings - across three collections. Of note is that each of these eight cigars features a different blend. When our team caught up with Casa 1910 at the 2023 PCA Trade Show , we discussed the evolution of this portfolio. The company also came into the Trade Show with its first limited edition cigar - the Casa 1910 Cuchillo Parado Reserva 2020.

This is a big year for Miami Cigar & Company. There are two significant milestones the company is celebrating revolving around its two main brands. First, the Tatiana brand is marking its 25th anniversary, and second, company founder Nestor Miranda turned 80 years young. Miami Cigar & Company developed a 25th-anniversary cigar and a commemorative limited-edition cigar to mark Miranda's birthday.

The 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show was the second one for West Tampa Cigar Company. This venture started a little over a year ago and is a company owned by General Cigar Company alumni Rick Rodriguez and Gus Martinez. The eve of the Trade Show saw West Tampa announce another General Cigar alumni, Rami Dakko, would be its new Director of Sales. This was a move that continues to strengthen West Tampa's presence in the market. On the product front, West Tampa Tobacco would go into this year's Trade Show having just shipped its third regular production line, the West Tampa Tobacco Red.

PCA 2023: Room101 (Audio)

Cigar Coop has been covering the Trade Show since 2010, and each year we always had a visit with Matt Booth and Room101 Cigars. At this year's Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Room101 had a station in the Forged Cigar Company booth. While we did get to see the products being showcased by Room101, we could not get time with Matt for our interview because the booth was quite busy. The good news is Matt made himself available after the trade show to talk about his offerings via a zoom video calll. This was the first full Trade Show that Matt and Room101 had with Forged Cigar Company. Room101 would bring back an old brand and introduce brand extensions to two others. It was most exciting to see the brand has kept its identity and roots - and even more importantly, Matt Booth is still Matt Booth.
