PCA 2022 Report: Quality Importers Trading Company (Audio)
Monday Aug 22, 2022
Monday Aug 22, 2022
Over the years, Quality Importers Trading Company has assembled and developed a wide portfolio of cigar accessories. When it comes to Quality Importers, there is always plenty to talk about at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show. Aside from the products, Quality Importers made headlines when it announced it brought industry veteran Michael Giannini back to the premium cigar business as he was hired to be Quality Importers' Chief of Customer Engagement. In this role, he will be responsible for the Sales, Marketing, and Messaging initiatives of the company. At the same time, the company announced it promoted another industry veteran Alex Goldman to Chief Operating Officer. However, there was so much more than just the personnel moves. This year is the 25th anniversary of Xikar, and Quality Importers has an innovative cutter offering to commemorate the occasion. At the same time, there are new offerings under Palió, Stinky, Humidor Supreme, and Hydra. Finally, Quality Importers offers graphics customization on most of its products through its in-house facility in Weston, Florida known as The Swag Bunker. These customizations are offered to customers and also used by Quality Importers for many of its own products.

PCA 2022 Report: Matilde Cigars (Audio)
Sunday Aug 21, 2022
Sunday Aug 21, 2022
Last year a new chapter for Matilde Cigars began as owner Enrique Seijas launched the Limited Exposure Series. Over the past few years, Seijas has worked hard building up the four core blends of his portfolio, but the Limited Exposure Series gave Seijas a chance to do some different things. As the name indicates, it’s Limited Exposure. The idea will be to rotate releasing one of three blends every six months in a different size for a production run. So far Seijas has released Limited Exposure No. 1 and Limited Exposure No. 2 with plans for No. 3 to be released next year. At this year’s Trade Show, the Limited Exposure No. 1 was once again showcased, but this time in a new Lonsdale size. This was the final video we recorded at the 2022 PCA Trade Show (although we have some special feature videos that will follow this). We literally recorded this as the Trade Show came to a close.

PCA 2022 Report: ADVentura Cigars (Audio)
Saturday Aug 20, 2022
Saturday Aug 20, 2022
ADVentura is the flagship line of ADV & McKay Cigars, owned by Henderson Ventura and Marcel Knobel. It is a true concept brand as the cigars follow a theme of two adventurers named Adventura and McKay. The first lines followed the travels of these two companions. Now according to Ventura and Knobel, Adventura and McKay are entering a "darker chapter" of their adventures. This chapter will focus more on the characters they meet along their journey. The company has two releases - La Llorona and Barbarroja's Invasion. Both lines introduce some innovative concepts. If it's anything like the previous "chapters," cigar enthusiasts are in for a treat. In 2021, one cigar from those previous chapters "The Royal Return - Queen's Pearls" won some big accolades including Cigar Coop's #2 Cigar of the Year and El Oso Fumar's #3 Cigar of the Year. Like 2021, ADVentura Cigars was a part of the Sutliff Tobacco group, which hosted the family of brands it distributes.

PCA 2022 Report: All Saints Cigars (Audio)

While a lot was made of the launch of new companies by CAO alumni, Tim Ozgener and Rick Rodriguez, one must remember there is another CAO alumni who got a head start - and that's Micky Pegg. In 2020 Pegg and Frank Layo lauched All Saints Cigars and hit the ground running. Working with Rocky Patel's TAVICUSA factory, the company has brought four core lies to market with commercial success and critical acclaim. At this year's trade show, the company focused on some line extensions. With the line extensions added each of the four blends will have identical six-vitola offerings. In addition, the company announced a new partnership with Boveda where its boxes will ship with a Boveda humification pack inside.
