PCA 2022 Report: Casa Cuevas Cigars

At the 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA)Trade Show, Casa Cuevas Cigars did have a new cigar called Sangre Nueva, but the other story would be the emergence of 5th generation cigar maker Alec Cuevas. Since Casa Cuevas Cigars launched in 2016, much has been made about the father and son team of Luis Cuevas Sr. and Luis Cuevas Jr. When it comes to Sangre Nueva, this is be the first project spearheaded by Luis Jr's son Alec Cuevas. Alec would take center stage at the Casa Cuevas booth, and with poise and confidence he showed the company is in good hands with the next generation.

PCA 2022 Report: Jake Wyatt Cigar Co. (Audio)

Jake Wyatt Cigar Company was launched in 2020 by Gerard Abajian and Neil Garcia. The company derives its name from the first name of each of the owner's sons. The company quickly established a reputation for making artesian and connoisseur style cigars.  The 2022 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show would be the second for Jake Wyatt as a company. Keeping to the reputation of connoisseur cigars, the company announced the Lancero Gourmet Collection, a series of Lancero line extensions to the five blends that make up the Jake Wyatt Gourmet Collection.

Gran Habano has been a staple of the Premium Cigar Association Trade Show. This year, the company had a chance to celebrate its 20th anniversary as a brand. To commemorate the milestone, Gran Habano has released the Gran Habano 20th Aniversario. It’s a project that has been in the works for a while. Word of the 20th Aniversario project first surfaced in 2020, but delays (mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic) pushed the project back for two years.

In this report, we talk to Gran Habano owner George Rico about the brand’s 20th anniversary and the Gran Habano 20th Aniversario cigar.

At this year's 2022 PCA Trade Show, My Father introduced two blends the My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años Limited Edition and the My Father Cigars to Release Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary Limited Edition.

The My Father Le Bijou 1922 100 Años celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of Don Pepin Garcia’s father José Garcia Alayón. Meanwhile as the name indicates, the Flor de Las Antillas 10th Anniversary commemorates ten years since the Flor de las Antillas made its debut.

We are back from the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show and back to our regular cadence. Tonight we kick things off with the one and only Eddy Guerra of Davidoff of Geneva.

Eddy’s a veteran in the cigar industry and he has taken his talents to Davidoff. We’ll talk about Eddy about what’s happening with Davidoff – especially with the AVO and Camacho brands.  Plus Eddy’s a big music fan and in our Live True segment, we will learn what about some of Eddy’s musical taste’s.  We will return with a Sopranos Segment and pay tribute to the late Tony Sirico. Finally, in our Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Deliberation Segment, we will do some grading of the PCA show Developing Palates style.

PCA 2022 Report: Miami Cigar & Company (Audio)

Miami Cigar & Company and its long-time strategic partner La Aurora didn't have a lot of new products, but at the same time this still proved to be quite a busy booth. The theme for both Miami Cigar and La Aurora was the families behind the brand - namely Nestor Miranda and the late Fernando León.

Also present in the booth were La Aurora Cigars, Ken Hamlin's Arrival Cigars, and Dr Gaby Kafie of Kafie 1901 Cigars. Miami Cigar distributes La Aurora Cigars while La Aurora handles production for Arrival Cigars. We covered La Aurora and Arrival Cigars in separate reports. Dr. Gaby Kafie was not exhibiting or taking orders for any product, but he is in the process of moving his production to the La Aurora factory.
