On Special Edition 116, we continue Aging Experiment #4 as we check in one six plus months of aging on the Aladino Corojo Reserva Figurado.
With the “Aging Experiment” Series, Bear and Coop smoke a cigar, smoke the same cigar six months later, and smoke the same cigar one year later. The idea is to see how the cigar responds to aging over a period of time.
While we are smoking we will recap The Great Smoke 2022 and weigh in some more on the whole “Responsible Marketing” discussion. Plus we have our One Must Go and Great Things are Happening Here segment as well as a special Montecristo giveaway from Tabacalera USA.

Prime Time Jukebox Episode 66 Audio: The 90’s Madness Draft Show
Monday Mar 07, 2022
Monday Mar 07, 2022
This year the Battle of the Bands Competition has turned into 90’s Madness!
While last year we selected artists, this year we have decided to focus on albums – specifically from the decade of the 1990s. To add to the fun, Hector Alfonso of Espinosa Cigars and John McTavish of Developing Palates are participating.
The concept works as follows: Dave, Coop, Hector, and John will each pick 8 albums. The selections will occur via a “Draft”. Once the albums are selected, each participant will seed them, place them into brackets and you decide who should move on. We will go through each round on Twitter, until there is a winner from each of the four brackets. From that point, the four bracket winners will square off in a final four.
The tournament commences March 15th with two matchups a day to vote on. Each vote will be eligible to compete to win one of three special prizes.
We also pay homage to the late Mark Lanegan. We recap Black History Month, preview Women’s History month, discuss Coop’s New Oldies #1 selection, and look forward to Record Store Day on April 23rd.
For this show, Dave smokes the Oliva Serie V 135th Anniversary Edición Limitada and Coop smokes the Las 6 Provincias Las Villas
As always you can follow along with our Spotify Playlists:

The Smoking Syndicate: Black Works Studio Intergalactic Robusto (Audio)
Friday Mar 04, 2022
Friday Mar 04, 2022
Black Works Studio has been putting out some stellar releases, so when they announced the Intergalactic, I was thrilled. This cigar is a bit different from the normal powerhouses that Black Works Studio releases. The Intergalactic is a complex cigar with more layers of flavors than their previous releases.
“Intergalactic is a unique cigar for Black Works Studio. I would consider it in a more traditional wheelhouse in terms of its overall profile with a definite Oveja Negra twist. The blend starts with bold spice followed by herbal and cedar notes. The finish is a balance of different layers. The spice and earthy notes of the Nicaragua filler tobaccos are gently brought together with the creamy, subtle sweetness of the dark Sumatra wrapper. This cigar is both bold and subtle all at the same time.” says James Brown, creator of BLTC and partner at Fabrica Oveja Negra.
I called up Jay Davis at Blue Smoke in Dallas, TX, and ordered a five-pack in both sizes: robusto and corona gorda. Both sizes retail for $10.50. Let’s look at the blend:
- Wrapper: Dark Sumatra
- Binder: Ecuador Habano
- Filler: Nicaraguan
- Vitola: Robusto
- Size: 5.5×50 (20 count)
- MSRP: $10.50
- Factory: Fabrica Oveja Negra
Final Score: 92
