Coming in at #27 is the Quesada 1974 Robusto. The Quesada 1974 was introduced in 2019. It’s a cigar that commemorates the year the Quesada family would open its first cigar factory, Manufactura de Tabacos S.A. (MATASA, now known as the Quesada factory). Over the years, the factory has established itself as one of the premier factories in the world. Originally the Quesada 1974 made its debut early in 2019 in Spain (a strong market for Quesada Cigars) before launching in the U.S. market later that year.
The blend to the Quesada 1974 features a Cameroon seed wrapper grown in Ecuador. There are Dominican tobaccos on the binder and filler, along with some additional Nicaraguan tobacco used in the filler. The Dominican tobaccos were grown directly by the Quesada factory. The Robusto size comes in the popular 5 x 50 format.
The Quesada 1974 delivered a medium strength, medium-bodied smoking experience from start to finish This cigar produced notes of natural tobacco, dried fruit, wood, white pepper, and cream. The Quesada 1974 is a cigar that not only delivers good flavor, but also delivers very balanced flavors from start to finish.
Historically, Quesada Cigars has had a very good showing on Cigar Coop Countdowns. 2021 marks the seventh year there has been a Quesada Cigar on the Countdown. It’s also the first Dominican-made cigar to land on the 2021 edition.

Coming in at #28 is the Abuelo Padre. In 2021, United Cigars would resurrect a brand called Abuelo. The Abuelo line was released over 20 years ago. At the time, United Cigar's owner David Garofalo’s brother-in-law John was going to become a grandfather. Shortly after the brand’s release, John passed away and the brand essentially became dormant. Fast forward to 2021, and now David Garofalo has become a grandfather himself and decided to resurrect the brand. To produce the 2021 version of the brand, Garofalo sought out Julio R. Eiroa, the owner of JRE Tobacco Company, to produce the blend. Eiroa had also produced the original version of the Abuelo.
Abuelo uses 100 percent Honduran-grown tobaccos from the JRE Tobacco farm. This includes a Honduran Habano wrapper and Authentic Corojo for the binder and filler. The Padre is a classic Toro size measuring 6 x 52.
Produced at the Eiroa's Fabrica de Puros Aladino S.A in Las Lomas, Abuelo Padre delivers flavors of natural tobacco, bread, cedar, citrus, baker's spice, and pepper. This isn't an overpowering cigar. It's a cigar that starts out mild to medium in strength before progressing to medium in the second third. The flavors delivered are medium-bodied.
The Abuelo Padre gives United Cigar its first entry on a Cigar Coop Countdown. It's also the sixth consecutive entry that the Las Lomas factory has landed on the Coop Countdown.

Coming in at #29 is the Warzone Box Pressed Short Churchill. In 2019, Espinosa Cigars joined forces with General Cigar Company to create a cigar known as Warzone. The cigar is one that is produced at Espinosa's La Zona factory but sold and distributed by General. The 2019 release was done in two sizes: Robusto and Toro. In 2020, General and Espinosa would unveil a new size into the line in the form of a 6 1/2 x 48 box-pressed Short Churchill.
The name Warzone was inspired by the Ten Years War – a war fought in Cuba between Cuba and Spain as a part of Cuba’s overall fight for independence from Spain.
Espinosa Cigars is probably best known for producing Habano-wrapped blends over all-Nicaraguan tobaccos. With Warzone, the La Zona factory delivers its first major Cameroon wrapped line. The remainder of the blend utilizes a Honduran binder and Colombian and Nicaraguan fillers. The Colombian filler is something that La Zona is not known to work with either. Adding box-pressed extensions is something Espinosa Cigars does often, and the 6 1/2 x 48 size has been one Espinosa has used on many other lines over the years.
The Warzone Box Pressed Short Churchill delivers flavors of coffee bean, wood, fruit, cream, and pepper. These flavors are medium-bodied and countered by medium strength. This cigar will deliver the sweetness Cameroon is known for with enough spice to give you the Espinosa "bite."
The Warzone Box Pressed Churchill is the ninth time General Cigar (the company selling the brand is what we track) has landed on the Countdown. Over the years various brands within the General portfolio landed cigars on the Countdown, but it's the first time Warzone has landed on it. It's also the sixth consecutive appearance for General Cigar on the Countdown.

Coming in at #30 is the Viaje Black and White Connecticut. For over a decade, Viaje has released dozens of small batch production releases. Up until 2020, none of those releases featured a Connecticut Shade wrapper. That all changed in 2020 when Viaje released the Viaje Black and White series. The concept of Viaje Black and White is based on the Black and White Cookie. It consists of a Maduro blend and a Connecticut blend. Just like the Black and White Cookie, the argument is whether to eat the black (maduro) side or white (Connecticut Shade) side. In this case, it’s the white side, the Viaje Black and White Connecticut that lands on the Countdown.
Viaje often keeps it secret when it comes to the origins and tobaccos of the blend. The Viaje Black and White Connecticut is no exception. The only thing we know about the cigars is that they have a Connecticut Shade wrapper. The binder, fillers, and factory where this cigar was made have been kept secret. The cigar itself comes in one size – a 6 3/4 x 52 perfecto (the Maduro counterpart also comes in the same size).
The Viaje Black and White Connecticut delivers flavors of cream, natural tobacco, cedar, citrus, and pepper. These flavors are medium-bodied and countered by medium strength. The flavors delivered are classic in terms of a Connecticut Shade, yet there is enough boldness to put it right on the edge of being a more contemporary smoke. Viaje is no stranger to the Countdown. This marks the seventh year Viaje has landed on the Countdown. It also marks Viaje’s first appearance on the Countdown since 2018.
