Sunday Aug 22, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Enrique Seijas of Matilde Cigars.
Matilde Cigars is the company that was founded by the legendary José Seijas and now run by his son Enrique. Over the years, the company has built a solid foundation of four regular production blends. It’s been five years since Matilde has had a new release, and no doubt fans of the brand have been anticipating when they could see something new. It turns out 2021 is the year, as at 2021 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, the company launched the Matilde Limited Exposure No. 1.

Sunday Aug 22, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to George Rico of Gran Habano Cigars.
If you were looking for a slice on A1A in Miami Beach, Florida, the Gran Habano booth was the one for you. It was a new booth for Gran Habano, but it was one of the best laid out ones at the show. With the COVID-19 pandemic still having its impacts, Gran Habano owner George Rico has delayed his long-awaited 20th-anniversary project. In the meantime, Rico has put together a series of six fresh-pack samplers that offer some of his most popular and highly acclaimed blends in a portable format.

Sunday Aug 22, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Matt Booth of Room101 Cigars.
It's always fun visiting Matt Booth at a Trade Show, and the 2021 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show is no exception. Room101 Cigars is a cigar company that parallels the lifespan of Cigar Coop. Booth ventured into the world of cigars from the jewelry world in 2009, and I started Cigar Coop in 2010. Since then, this has been a very enjoyable ride watching Booth develop his portfolio of cigars. It's now 4 1/2 years since Booth split from Davidoff, and now he is building a solid foundation of core offerings, adding some limited editions, and even bringing back some of the legacy brands that he had success with in the past.

PCA 2021: CLE Cigar Company (Audio)

Saturday Aug 21, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Tom Lazuka of CLE Cigar Company and Asylum Cigars.
CLE Cigar Company is home to four main brands: CLE, EIROA, Wynwood Hills, and Asylum. When it comes to the CLE and Eiroa brands, the name of the game is “Cameroon de Jamastran.” This is a Cameroon seed wrapper grown on Julio R. Eiroa’s tobacco farm in the Jamastran Valley in Honduras. Last year, Julio and his son Justo used the wrapper on JRE Tobacco Company’s Aladino Cameroon. This year, Julio’s other son Christian would get the opportunity to work with the wrapper. CLE Cigar Company was also in a unique position as it was the only company to produce two PCA Exclusive Cigars – one for the Eiroa brand and the other for the Asylum brand.

From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to James Brown at Oveja Negra Brands
At the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Oveja Negra Brands returned with the same booth as it had for the 2019 IPCPR Trade Show. This was especially pleasing because I loved how this booth highlighted the unique nature of each of the four brands – and still puts them under one umbrella. The world has changed quite a bit since 2019, but Oveja Negra Brands still keeps to its “less is more” small batch philosophy, and it paid off dividends. Between Cigar Coop and El Oso Fumar, Oveja Negra Brands has collected quite a number of awards. Meanwhile, there was no shortage of new things to look forward to in 2021.
