The Smoking Syndicate: My Father Fonseca Belicoso (Audio)
Sunday Aug 08, 2021
Sunday Aug 08, 2021
My Father Cigars bought the Fonseca brand from Quesada Cigars in 2019, which had been making the iconic brand in the Dominican Republic since 1974. Quesada had been using a mixture of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and the United States for their Fonseca cigars, but the new Fonseca from My Father is using 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos grown from the Garcia farms. The highlight of this new blend is the Rosado Corojo 99 wrapper grown by the Garcias. The Garcia family wanted to bring the Fonseca back to its Cuban roots. The Fonseca by My Father is being made in 5 sizes, which I'm reviewing the belicoso size.

Sunday Aug 08, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Mo Maali of Patina Cigars.
Patina Cigars was one of nine cigar companies that exhibited in the Sutliff Tobacco pipe booth. Over the past 18 months, Sutliff has quietly been bringing on smaller cigar companies to handle its distribution. Each of the companies had a mini kiosk and it brought back the feel of the old House of Emilio booth from 2014.

PCA 2021: Oliva Cigar Company (Audio)

Saturday Aug 07, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Ian Blanken of Oliva Cigar Company.
One of the pillars of the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show is Oliva Cigar Company. Oliva is not known to do large numbers of releases. But 2021 is a little different as this year might have had the most new releases Oliva had brought to the trade show in recent memory. Even when Oliva has no new releases, it’s always an exciting stop at the Trade Show. This year, the new releases made things even more exciting.

PCA 2021: All Saints Cigars (Audio)

Friday Aug 06, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Micky Pegg of All Saints Cigars.
All Saints Cigars marked a return to the IPCPR/PCA Trade Show for Micky Pegg. Pegg had been a part of many Trade Shows in the past, but after a hiatus in the industry, Pegg is now co-owner of a company called All Saints Cigars. It’s still very much a small operation, but what was impressive is that All Saints was one of the few companies of that size to go to both Trade Shows. All Saints Cigars employed a simple booth design, but what was nice is the products were cleanly displayed.

From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Bradley Rubin of Alec Bradley Cigar Company.
While Alec Bradley Cigar Company scaled down the size of its booth at the 2021 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, there didn’t seem to be a loss of foot traffic. The booth was so crowded when we arrived for our appointment with Alec Bradley, we had to interview Bradley Rubin outside the booth. In terms of new product, the one product on display was the PCA Exclusive Alec Bradley Magic Toast Box Pressed Gran Toro. The company showcased its new 24-count boxes and new names for the vitolas of the Tempus line. They also talked about the factory change for the Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper. Finally, while Bradley Rubin teased a post-show release in our interview, we’ll keep it teaser free and in our report talk about the upcoming return of the Alec Bradley Trilogy.
