PCA 2021: Ferio Tego (Audio)
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
Tuesday Aug 03, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Michael Herklots of Ferio Tego.
Ferio Tego's primary goals at the 2021 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show were twofold: 1) Connect with customers; 2) Support the Trade Association. While these are the goals of many companies at the PCA Trade Show, what was different was Ferio Tego was not writing up orders at the Trade Show.
Michael Herklots has said the plan was before relaunching the former Nat Sherman Brands (Timeless, Metropolitan, and Epoca) there would be the launch of a limited edition brand known as Ferio Tego. He had hoped that by the Trade Show Ferio Tego would have been ready, but that did not happen. While he expects Ferio Tego to launch this summer, rather than take orders on something that wasn't ready to go, a decision was made to not take orders.
At the same time Ferio Tego wanted to be a part of the Trade Show. This included connecting with former and potentially future customers. It also included supporting the association. This year, Ferio Tego sponsored the "Finish Your Cigar" booth, where attendees could finish their cigar before heading on to the area's convention show where smoking is prohibited.
This strategy worked and there is a definite excitement in the air for what Ferio Tego will bring to the table.

We apologize for the audio volume, but hope you still enjoy this interview
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Nirka Reyes and Jean-Michael Louis of De Los Reyes Cigars.
De Los Reyes went into the 2021 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show with the booth model it has used for the past few years. This booth has been a personal favorite of the Cigar Coop team for several years. It’s a booth that models their factory in the Dominican Republic. The booth houses not only the brands of De Los Reyes, but several of the brands produced by the De Los Reyes factory including Debonaire House, Topper Cigars, Patoro, and Cattle Baron Cigars. It was a booth busy with action from day one. Today we turn our attention to the Saga brand, which is De Los Reyes’ premium cigar brand.

From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Andy Green of Ashton Cigars.
Our team’s visit to the Ashton booth was quite interesting. We actually made two visits to the booth. The first day we somehow got on the topic of our first Ashton smoking experiences, and it seemed like we each had a memory to tell. On the second day, we got a chance to interview Vice President of Sales Andy Green. Ashton’s booth had been simplified from recent PCA/IPCPR Trade Shows, but the good news was there was a new line to talk about in 2021 with the La Aroma de Cuba Pasión!

The Smoking Syndicate - Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Short Story (Audio)
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Sunday Aug 01, 2021
Arturo Fuente released the Rare Pink in November 2020 to benefit breast cancer awareness. Liana Fuente created this project to honor her grandmother and aunt who both tragically lost their lives to breast cancer. She and her father decided to donate $13 from the sale of Rare Pink boxes, of which only 500 were made, to breast cancer research. The number 13 was used because Liana was born on the 6th and her grandmother was born on the 7th. Add those two numbers together and they equal 13, which is also Carlito's father's number. Carlito blended this new line after being inspired by Liana in her fight against breast cancer. Carlito used the Hemingway Series vitolas to create the Rare Pink, but decided to use an Ecuadorian wrapper from the Oliva Tobacco Company from their La Mecca farm in Ecuador. The filler is also amped up by using Nicaraguan tobaccos from the Fuente farms in Nicaragua.

PCA 2021: Espinosa Cigars (Audio)

Saturday Jul 31, 2021
From the 2021 PCA Trade Show, we talk to Hector Alfonso of Espinosa Cigars.
Espinosa Cigars is one of the companies that could stake the claim of being the standout company of the 2021 PCA Trade Show. This year saw a booth that showcased Espinosa’s high print media cigar ratings as well as one with consistent foot traffic. There are two themes that can be applied to Espinosa Cigars – doubling down and as Bear Duplisea said “building on the foundation”. These themes ultimately played a key role in the success Espinosa Cigars had at this trade show.
With many scaling back at the PCA Trade Show and the Big Four skipping the trade show, Espinosa Cigars opted to double-down on this PCA. They stepped up as a major sponsor including co-sponsoring the opening reception, and they opted to come into the Trade Show with plenty of products. The products are all examples on building upon the solid foundation that Espinosa Cigars has established over the years.
