PCA 2023: Selected Tobacco
Monday Jul 17, 2023
Monday Jul 17, 2023
It’s hard to believe that it’s been an entire decade since I first heard of the brands of Selected Tobacco. Owned by Nelson Alfonso, Selected Tobacco today takes its rightful place among the best luxury cigar brands in the world. 2022 probably saw Selected Tobacco’s most significant expansion as it introduced several new lines – notably the new Alfonso brand and Byron 1850 line. 2023 wouldn’t see quite as many surprises, but at the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, several previously announced projects now come to life.

The Smoking Syndicate: Rabbit Air A3 (Audio)
Thursday Jul 06, 2023
Thursday Jul 06, 2023
Rabbit Air reached out to me to do a review of their new A3 model which I accepted. I’ve long been a fan of Rabbit Air as I have been using their MinusA2 model for about 8 years now. I thought the MinusA2 did a fantastic job reducing smoke in my man cave, but I was curious how much better, if any, the A3 would be. The new A3 turned out to be a much better unit than my older MinusA2. It had a larger filtration capacity, faster, and quieter in a slightly smaller package. It does a better job is to reduce that old smoke smell as well over my MinusA2. The unit cost for the A3 is $750 vs the $570 of the MinusA2, but I think the extra money is worth it here. You get so much more for less than $200 between them. I can easily say I highly recommend the A3 for any small or medium cigar shop or a home cigar lounge. Watch my video for a full review. --Ben Lee

The Smoking Syndicate: Aganorsa Leaf Supreme Leaf Toro 2023 (Audio)
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
Wednesday Jun 28, 2023
Earlier this year, Aganorsa Leaf released the new iteration of the Supreme Leaf. They used the toro size they previously used in 2020, but this time, the cigar is round instead of a boxed press. This is the first time they have used a round format instead of the box press.
From the Aganorsa Leaf press release:
“Demand for Supreme Leaf continues to grow and we are committed to releasing the same incredible blend in a new format with each release, ” says Terence Reilly, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Rolling the blend as a traditional parejo and not box pressing it gives the consumer the opportunity to compare how this vitola compares to previous releases. I’m excited for the feedback from consumers once this hits the market in February, especially since this release will mark the first time in over a year Supreme Leaf will be available and expectations are higher than ever.”
Packaged in boxes of ten, Aganorsa Leaf Supreme Leaf Toro will consist of 2,750 boxes and will be available for order. Pricing is set at $13.99 SRP per cigar.

- Binder: Aganorsa (Nicaragua)
